The brain of the Garda System is the NetPOD software, designed to be “future proof”.
It is a NMS software, based on the client-server configuration.
NetPOD is a real multi-user system, with infinite real time access available, that can also be
split into zones, regions, and accessed according to hierarchical levels.
Username and password will grant access rights on a input-by-input or equipment base.
NetPOD Manager - Server
NetPOD Manager, the server application, grabs information from any RDF, Agent and
stores them in the database.
The data control engine automatically checks for connections with RDF, Agent grabs incoming data, generates alarms, creates statistics, sends email and SMS. It can also take care of communication with client applications, connected to its services.
NetPOD software will collect any data from all RDF and SNMP equipment on the field, and will send all commands to the remote equipment.
NetPOD Supervisor - Client
NetPOD Supervisor, the client application, is an easy-to-use and user friendly GUI, to easily manage and configure the entire network.
NetPOD Supervisor, is connected to the manager with a TCP socket; that means that it could be on the same machine (of the server) or it can connect by LAN WAN or internet.
Access to the system is permitted only after the server has acknowledged the username and password, permissions to single users are granted by the system administrator. Username and password is assigned by the administrator, the password may then be changed by the user at any time. All important operations will be logged in the database with time,date and user in order to avoid discussions in ‘who done what when’.
If the PIM Group module is installed, this will enable a certain user to visualize or command only the inputs/outputs he is permitted to use; with this module, a service provider can connect to the same RDF, signals from 2 different broadcasters and grant permissions to the 2 broadcasters in a way that they can’t see (or control) each others transmitters.
Speed and security have been precise design specs for the GUI development, it is NOT a WEB BASED GUI. For this matter we have developed this specific application program to visualize data. For those who wish using a common HTML browser, we have a specific PIM, this module enables the user to visualize with simpler graphics in order to avoid long download time, html pages with the data regarding the system. The client application is multi-language and multi-standard so different clients can be connected to the same system, each with a different language, visualizing alarms each one in their own language and with their own standard (time/date/numbers etc).
