Remote Data Frontend

Modular data collection frontend for remote transmission and reception sites with mixed analog and digital I/O.

Remote Data Frontend RDF3-ETH

Field of application

RDF3-ETH (Remote Data Frontend with built-in Ethernet port) is the data collection equipment installed inside transmission and reception sites where a DSL connection is available. Uncompromising reliability, versatility and modular structure are the main features of RDF3-ETH, the ideal solution whenever a DSL connection is available along with many mixed analog and digital data points and controls to manage.

Inputs and outputs

RDF3-ETH can be expanded to handle an incredible amount of data, both physical and software: up to 256 analog inputs (8, 10, 12 or 16-bit resolution), up to 248 digital inputs, up to 256 relay outputs, and analog outputs with resolution up to 32 x 10-bit. They are configurable both locally and remotely, and programmable to generate alarms or run simple routines (macros). The I/O status can be read, both on-site and remotely, at any time.

Alarms and connectivity

Analog inputs have 6 programmable thresholds (2 alarms, 2 pre-alarms, 2 logging thresholds). The optically isolated RS485 interface, together with I/O expanders and the ANT universal protocol bridge, can connect virtually any type of third-party equipment. Alarms are sent immediately to the NetPOD control center software, which triggers notification procedures via SMS, phone calls and email. If the control center is unreachable, RDF3-ETH memory stores a queue of 500 alarms to ensure long off-line autonomy.

The connection to the control center uses the DSL connection, while an optional backup medium can be set to active standby and automatically switched over in case of failure of the main communication medium.

Power supply

Supply voltage 110 or 230 Vac ±10%, 30 VA. Includes internal UPS with gel battery 2 x 6V 3.0 Ah, charged by the RDF (the Wireless UHF/VHF configuration uses an external 40 Ah battery).
