Tower Light

Microprocessor-based monitoring system for obstruction lights on transmission and communication towers.

Tower Light monitoring system

Field of application

Tower-Light is a microprocessor-based system designed to monitor the status of obstruction lights, used on many transmission and communication towers. The system monitors up to eight warning lights and eight lamps: processing allows all lamps to be controlled from a single point, including flasher operation.

Reliability and installation

All outputs are opto-isolated for lightning protection when connected to external remote site monitoring equipment. With all lights operating on the tower, the monitor automatically calibrates itself to the number of bulbs in the system. The unit is specifically designed for broadcasters, with great attention to fault tolerance and twilight sensor failure.

Alarm outputs

Photocell failure, flasher failure (continuous on/off alarms, duty cycle tolerance and flash rate tolerance), individual alarm outputs for power supply and beacon, and a general alarm output for photocell and light.

Technical specifications

Supply voltage 9 to 15 VDC, input current 200 mA (2.5 W standard). Compliant with FCC/FAA advisory circular 70/7460-1, chapter 2.
